at the Town Hall, 6 Central Street.

Quaboag Street Recycling and Transfer Station Hours:
Tuesdays, 3 - 6 pm
Saturdays, 7 am - 4 pm.

About the Board of Health:
The Board of Health is comprised of three elected citizens from the Town
of Brookfield.
Terms are for three years.

The Board of Heath oversees the town's transfer station. It also implements and oversees policies and regulations as mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Department of Environmental Protection.

As part of its responsibility for protecting the public health, safety and environment of the community, the Health Department issues permits, licenses and conducts inspections. These are issued/conducted for the following: Retail Food Establishments, Mobile Food & Ice Cream, Food Service Establishments, Septic Systems, Septic Haulers, Septic Installers, Solid Waste Haulers, Children's Recreational Camps, Cabins, Trailers, Parks & Camps, Private Drinking Water Wells, Burial Permits, Funeral Directors, Stable Permits, Body Massage, Body Tanning.

Additionally, the Health Department addresses concerns of air quality, noise control, indoor air quality, animal & insect control, food protection, tobacco control, communicable disease reporting and any issues that affect the public's health.

TRANSFER STATION

HOURS: Tuesdays 3 - 6 pm, Saturdays, 7 am - 4 pm.

The transfer station is located on Quaboag Street, just behind the Clam Box restaurant. Permits are required at a cost of $85.00 per year. Permits are available from transfer station personnel. Special Brookfield trash bags must be used for all trash being deposited at the station, and may be purchased at Cumberland Farms, or Tip Top Country Store at a cost of $12.50 per package of ten bags.

Important about recycling: We now paticipate in Single Stream Recycling with our waste hauler. All paper, cardboard, cartons, plastics, glass, cans, and aluminum foil go in one bin.
